Overview

Byron Reese is a renowned Speaker, best-selling Author, and prolific Entrepreneur who writes and speaks on Futurist topics.

In 2023, Byron Reese’s team reached out to ask us to overhaul his website and brand to align more closely with his recent and upcoming publications. We created a new brand and graphic strategy and built a new website to host his vast archive of media, collection of books and talks.

Design Approach

We sought an aesthetic that felt both speaker-driven but at the same time academic, and were inspired by writers, magazines and journals of publishers who exhibit brave thinking and appreciation for bold ideas. To create this we came up with a design that displayed logic, clear organisation and fine graphical elements, whilst aiming to reflect Byron’s personality, subject matter and talking style.

Design Process

We developed a Logotype using Adobe Caslon Pro as a base, a typeface used throughout Byron’s recent books, which is commonly used in magazines, journals and book publishing. The typeface is used throughout the graphic schema as a way to organise key ideas and titles, and is balanced with the fine line of the Graphik font family.
 
During the early phase we decided to use a deep red as the signature colour for the brand, which could be used for fine detail and graphic elements, or large block elements of colour. The specific tone was chosen to reflect sophistication and professionalism, and to highlight Byron’s bold thinking and ideas. We also created guidelines for motion graphics, video and photography as part of the branding overhaul.
 
We designed a new website to house Byron’s key information as well as vast archive of media. The clean, organized approach we established in the brand design, carried through to the overall website feel, placing functionality and clean UX at the foreground. To compliment the new website we created a series of new graphics and gifs, to add layers of depth to the concepts explored in Byron’s books and talks. And finally we created a short video reel of Byron’s speaking, which reflected the new branding and design framework.
 
Our design process resulted in a clean, professional aesthetic, which aligns perfectly with Byron’s upcoming new book and speaker business.
